Water starts boiling after a few miles

First of all,

Hello to everybody

Im from Austria (Linz - An der schönen blauen Donau *gg*) and i got a massive problem with my Mazda RX 7 FC.

The water starts to boil after a few miles ... (sometimes it boils after 5 miles and sometimes it boils after 15 miles).

So my first thought was that the car has a water damage.

Im not that motor mechanic guy and i really dont want to kill the car complete.
So i need your help . I think there is already a thread with the same problem but i am kinda panic that there is nobody which can help me ...

So please give me your advice. ))!

I only need to know which parts do i need now for a motor refurbishing.
And where can i find the parts.

I really want to see this beautiful car back on the streets

STOP driving the car if it overheats! You risk damaging the water o-rings, which may already be the problem if it has been seriously overheated multiple times.

You need to check the entire cooling system. Check for any leaks (preventing it from building pressure), lack of or stuck thermostat, clogged radiator, etc.

This information will help:
Troubleshooting RX-7 Cooling Problems

If the cooling system checks out, perform a pressure test. If the pressure test forces coolant into the combustion chambers, then the only solution is a rebuild.

Doesnt start :/

First of all i wasnt driving the car at all. It isnt possible to start it ... i bought it already in this condition.

(Its a rotary 150 ps rx 7 FC(88')) havent mentioned it before sorry

I have some informations of the previous owner.

He said that there was a smell of exhaust gases in the inside of the car.
He also said that he putted in some blinding cooling water.
He also said that he was driving with a 4litre canister of water so that he allways can refill the water.
He also told me that the windows in the car were slightly covered grey after a while.

What to do now ? I cant check the overheating if i cant start it at all :/

Rebuild ?

If i want to rebuild the motor how much do i have to pay for the parts?

Not to scare you but it sounds like you have a coolant seal failure. Since you don't know much aboutthe vehicle or rotaries I'm guessing you need to found the nearest rotary mechanic and have it towed there. Depending on how abused the motor was will determine how much the rebuild will cost you. Do a search on the forum for rebuild prices and you'll see that a cheap rebuild may cost around 1000 US dollars more expensive ones can easily run you 3-5 times as much. These are amazing vehicles but costly if maintained properly. Remember to check your cooling system for the simple failures like a thermostat problem (like AaronCake said) before you Assume the worst. Good luck

Also if it isn't able to start run a compression test and if it has good compression it may be flooded. Try to "bumpstart" the car or try an unflooding method.

Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals All the FSM are at this link. the engine doesn't need to be running to do a cooling system pressure test or a compression test . if the little engine fails one or both of these tests you are probably in need of an engine rebuild . If you can do the rebuild your self ( the way you address your self it seems unlikely you can do the work yourself ) the work preformed by a mechanic will at least cost as much or more than the parts ) 1000 for parts is only if you don't need anything but the basic rebuild kits . Engine components are quite expensive . Atkins rotary have a good pricing system . if you go through there web site it will give you a good idea of what things cost . I'm not saying you should buy from them it;s just a good place to look and figure out costs . good luck Gerald m.
