Unhappy Water Bubbling from Radiator

Hey guys, So i just brought a foreign used turbo engine for my FC. My mechanic is not really fond of the rotary engine but he installed it for me. Now the engine starts and runs excellent but I cant go anywhere far with it. When the engine is running water/coolant starts bubbling out from the radiator which causes overheating after a while. Any suggestions why it would be bubbling out like this ? Thanks.

Bad coolant seals. Perform a cooling system pressure test to confirm.

J-specs are better thought of as junkyard engines, because that's what they are.

Without stating your car it is a little hard to receive answers.

One thing that comes to mind though is: did you totally bleed the system to get air out before you drove it?

yeaa bro we did bleed out everything. its a foreign used engine from Japan so they does have to drain out all oils etc to ship it . Does this problem have anything to do with the Apex seals ?

Sucks to here that. But like posted by aaron, its possibly bad coolant seals. I had the same problem before. Would drive it like maybe 20+ miles and then stop, i would hear the coolant bubbling and this was at night. Turns out my fan wasnt on a good portion of the time. check that out too.

You could a test to see if your coolant seals are blown. I cant remember the details to well, but i am sure it will come up in a search. GL

As stated multiple times... perform a coolant test. It sounds like bad coolant seals which will require a rebuild. Since you had a mechanic install your engine I'm going to take a leap and guess that you may want to have the rebuild professionally done. Do a search for rebuild questions and write ups. But again, test the system and post back when you find conclusive results. Sorry to hear about your engine btw.

rebuild will mean take it all apart (you knew that), inspect everything for wear and re-usability, replace overly worn bits, put back together.

you may be able to re-use the apex seals. if they're still in place now and making good compression then there's no reason why they won't be good for another 1k - 100,000k's.

at the very least you'll be up for the expense of a gasket kit, which may include the water seals.

i'd replace the oil control rings, too. nothing worse than a perfectly good engine that is smokey.

do some port polishing and matching etc while you have it in bits to make it worthwhile. maybe even open 'em up.

..and you a now a Member of the "I should have rebuilt that JDM Engine before installing it" Club.
It's a hard lesson,but Unless you've had a lobotomy,you will not do it again!
People automatically assume that the engines are good and Plop them in.you may get a GOOD one IF you get lucky..but the engines that are shipped have been sitting for who knows how long?.,driven HOW hard??..and then Cleaned up to look like a Damn Candy so some sucker can buy the Lawn ornament that it rightfully should be.
I opened one up to find a Baseball size amount of Crud and rust in one Housing so bad that the Engine just could not move it when rotated.
That was due to the Pressure washing of the engine to make it look all pretty.

He is EXACTLY right... I learned that the hard way :P but u should test the coolant seals for sure.

On a less doom-saying side, this symptom can also be caused by air in the system, the fans not coming on soon enough(or at all), the thermostat not opening soon enough(or at all), or the water pump not circulating the coolant. As said pressure check the system to ensure that it holds the proper pressure. If the system holds pressure check the operation of the fans, water pump, and thermostat.
