You will want to start here first:
Reliability Mods

Every FD needs the basic reliability mods first.

AST, Radiator, Downpipe.

AST:
Rotary Performance | FD Engine Cooling
AST - 93-95 RX-7 Tri-Point Engineering AST

Radiators, well, that depends on what you want to spend. You can track down fluidyne, koyo, etc.

Downpipes can be had from almost anywhere.

After that, I'd suggest an intercooler and a fuel pump. From there, you can then look into either an ECU chip or something like the PowerFC.

^Agreed. Get a good base before performance mods...especially cooling. A decent aftermarket temperature gauge is also mandated. The stock one is worthless.
Welcome Jesse. But if you can't nav the forums, you're in trouble. Start by reading the FAQ stickys in the 3rd Gen. section and learn how to search. Once outside the New Member section patience can be short.

As for power, a decent flowing true CAI, quality aftermarket SMIC, downpipe, hi-flow cat and cat back should get you in the 280 hp area...at the crank. If you want more you'll need to increase boost a little. For that you'll also need fuel mods and a tunable standalone.
If you want to brag hp figures you'll never be satisfied. But FWIW a well running 280 hp 2800 lbs. car is fast and fun. A fiddly, expensive and unreliable 350 rwhp car just makes jack stands look cool.

Welcome Jesse - I would also reccomend some light reading. The book 'street rotary' by Mark Warner is an excellent introduction to the 'art' of building power level on the 13B engine.

All the best - Rusty

Totally agree with Blue and Sonic. Now if your looking for power and performance in the way it drives and feels and not just showing your friends a dynosheet, then the first thing you need to do is get a lightweight flywheel.

It's the first thing I did in my 8 and old 88 rx7 and it is awesome! There's nothing like literally seeing and feeling you rip through your gears faster and watching your tac climb! That's how I got hooked haha now I'm hear to stay lol. I even remember racing other stock rx8s vs my 8 only mod being lightweight flywheel and intake and exhuast. And I was dumbfounded it actually made a dramatic impact!
