Unplugged cable from water cooling hose on an FD

I found a cable from the water cooling hoses on my 1999 FD Type RS, which is not connected to anything. The water cooler was changed with a new one from Koyorad and the hoses are new ones made of silicone. There I found a sensor with a cable which looks much older, maybe it's stock, but there's nothing where I can connect it to. So was it for another functional extra or maybe a sensor the previous owner installed to an additional gauge?

Ditto ^. Looks like it runs directly to that metal adapter.
