Cable Ties

Are they susceptible to the heat generated within our engine bay ? Just completed the vac hose job and Im just wonderin about their integrity and longevity with heat. I have more volume of air now as I have a much smaller battery and removed all emission related components along with complete removal of A/C system in the engine bay but im still concerned..

Side question:
Can you torque them to a point where it can shear a silicon hose ?
..now or after it has aged and been subjected to the heat....

Thanks

cable ties in my bay have withstanded heat. I dont have any for silicone hose job so I cant say about the longetivity on there. But I have never had a cable tie become so brittle it broke off. And I think you would probably break the cable tie before you sheared the hose.

consensus is that i should be fine...
there are other alternatives to the plastic cable ties as I am told...
SS ties and Tefzel by Mcmaster-carr
my stock motor is on 70k and the ties may last longer...
not sure if my current list of upgrades for it will increase or decrease its life term...im hoping for at least 100k prior to rebuild and street port...
ill have another opportunity then to tie wrap with something higher temp resistance...

just get the regular ties....chances are the motor will pop before they break.

I had 113k on my car and never had ties snap by themselves.
