Unknown connector behind instrument cluster

Hi!

Just removed my instrument cluster. Those three clamps at the back of the hood sure was tight. Stuck harder then the plastic. In 8 pieces the hood came of.

Well, that's a later problem...
Right now I'm confused about a connector I fund unplugged behind the hood. It wasn't one I unplugged and I think I found the female further in the rat's nest.
Shouldn't be any problem connecting them, but what does it do? What have I been without all this time?

It's difficult to see but the male connector feels like it is entering a harness and the female seems to go up.

There is also a black **** on the dash board that I don't know what it is. What is it? Is it stock?

Grateful for replies

not sure on rx7's (yet) but on my 2 1985 supras there was a similar "****" on the dash that was a temp. sensor (or somthing) for the ac.

is your car a manual or auto?

u will constantly find plugs that aren't plugged to anything. all wiring harnesses r made the same for what ever options ur specific model could have. but if urs doesn't have a certain option, the wiring is still there.

You could use the color codes in the factory wiring diagram to figure it out.

The car is an auto. And no junk yards with RX7:s anywhere close.

I will do some more research in the workshop manual (body electrical) for the colors and the AC.
