UK RX7 Owner

Hi All,

I'm running a twin turbo RX7 over here in the UK, the heart of the industrial revolution, where all this mechanisation started. not far fromn where I sit is the first Iron Bridge in the world.
It does seem incredible to think I'm now able to communicate and build friendships with people I've never met by tapping out on this PC.

How we have advanced.

Anyway, drifting off topic here, its late.

I'm looking forward to learning from the site, and to passing on some knowledge.

My first is a request, I'm seeking to make my RX7 bullitt proof, over the years of ownership I have identified a number of weaknesses. Please can you add to the list if you have something I have missed?

1. Cooling system - struggles to cope withy more power - thermostat very restrictive. High metal temperatures invoke detonation.
2. IAT - inlet air temperature sensor reads slowly - casues lean condition with large intercoolers and water injection. Again, brings on detonation.
3. Fuel system - needs a swirl pot and a larger filter toi avoid air bubbles reaching the injectors. Yet again, to avoid detonation.
4. Steel fuel lines rust allowing flakes of rust to fall into the injectors. Causes lean running due to blocked injectors. Yet again, to avoid detonation.
5. Large ports cause large overlap - without combustion pressure sensors fitted during mapping, a correct map cannot be obtained. Over rich map promotes engine wear through bore wash and oil degradation.

I've run out of steam, but I'm sure there are more!

Best regards,

Jonathan Fennell
