I just looked at a car that was stored for 8 years. It fired up, but I wasn't sure about a rotary being stored that long in an open backyard. It needed work, but they wanted more that I think would be fair($2500). Did I skip a great deal or did I dodge a bullet?

 

$2500 is about $2000 too much.

Unless it was stored correctly, you have a massive amount of work to do in order to get it back on the road.

 

stored outside in Minnesota for 8 years? you made a wise decision, unless you're looking for a project, and even then, talking down from $2500 should be an easy task if you know the cars and what it takes to restore them to proper running condition.

 

I'm not neccesarily looking for a project car, but I'm not afraid of serious mechanical work. (I work on Toyota vehicles all day long at a dealer) I just didn't think that was a fair price, knowing what I do know about stored rotaries. BTW, I heard it sold for $1900+ from the seller.

 

I'm glad you guys are saying that. I was feeling bad after yesterday, I got word it sold. Oh well, just have to wait for another! Till then...
