transmission question
is there a difference between a flywheel and pressure plate on an 87 n/a and a 89 n/a engine? because i did a swap and my clutch isn't disengaging i didn't know if i had to get a new pressure plate or if it would be ok to use the old one from the 87 engine
S4 and S5 NA clutch kits are the same. The flywheels are the same diameter, but the built-in counterweights (in manual flywheels) are different. The flywheel should be the same series as the rotors to avoid serious balance issues.
ok so the pressure plate should go on with no problems? awesome so is there a specific way to mount the pressure plate onto the flywheel? i think i may have it wrong is y my clutch wont disengage, thanks for ur help

The pressure plate mounts the way it fits.
I think it will fit in several orientations, none of which will be an issue.
If your clutch won't disengage, you may have the clutch disc backwards. Or it could be a simple hydraulic problem, or a clutch fork that has popped off the pivot.
