NC Transmission only goes into 4th

i have a 93 fd tt rx7 i just got it a month ago and i was dcriving on my way to myrtle beach about a 3 hour ride i was in 5th gear doing about 70-75 mph when the trans acted like it was in nuetral (5 speed) i dropped it into 4th and kept it moving till the next exit and then i realized at the end of the ramp that i had no gears only 4th not even my reverse works i was able to start my car and drive back home in 4th gear and it drives fine in 4th but thats it

anybody ever seen this or can tell me what could cause this to happen please

so in other words i blew my trans no chance of rebuilding (not worth it) ....that sucks thank you thou at least i dont have to pay a mechanic to tell me something else and get me for more money ...

u can get used ones on the forum for pretty cheap. no more than $250 or so

If it's making horrible grinding noises, and you find chunks of metal in the gear oil, it's a good bet it's toast.

Yeah, heaven forbid that a mechanic charge for both parts and labor.

Odd that it blew in 5th though. I suspect it ran low on oil. It was probably making some nice whining noises before it broke.
