Exclamation Transmission Leads to Trouble... PLEASE HELP!

Okay, so to make a long story short.....

I bought what I thought was a Turbo II 88 RX-7 with a rebuilt 13B that had the turbo removed. All parts that I have bought and replaced on this car (clutch, alternator, ignition) have all been for the Turbo II because I thought that's what I had. I now need to replace the transmission so I have been researching so I could buy a tranny online. So I found this site and read the stickies and apparently based on my VIN I have the non-turbo model and the transmission that is on it now is for a non-turbo even though I have the turbo clutch. Soooo I should buy the non-turbo transmission and replace the turbo clutch that is on it with a non-turbo clutch? Or go ahead and buy the turbo transmission since I have the turbo clutch, etc and plan on putting on a turbo in the future? Also, are there length differences between the FC3s non-turbo and turbo trannies??

Any assistance that you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated!!

A turbo clutch (assuming he is talking about the whole shibang) will not fit in a n/a trans. It is possible he switched to a Turbo Trans.

You can tell because a Turbo trans will have a removable bell housing, it will have 2 fill plugs on the side, and will have a removable window to inspect the insides of the trans.

If it doesn't have this you should assume you have n/a everything.

If you have n/a everything and you plan on going turbo, you should plan on swapping the whole drivetrain to make it easier. The turbo trans requires the turbo flywheel, turbo clutch, turbo slave cylinder and either the turbo driveshaft and turbo rear end or a custom driveshaft to connect from the turbo trans to the turbo rear end.

I think the n/a rear end is 7" and the turbo is 8".
