Ok I am getting a 1964 python, originally had a porsche 1600 flat 4 mid mount. The car doesn't have the motor or trans. I just want to build something that no one has ever done before.
So a 1964 python powered by a transverse mounted 20b sounds pretty original to me

Modified VW transaxles are very commonly used in high-hp sandcars. If your budget will allow it, there are places like this: VW Transaxles and Transmissions for VW Beetle and Bus | Rancho Performance Transaxles.
