FL torque rating on engine mounts

I've somehow broken loose both motor mounts. And was wondering what the torque rating on the bolt that holds the mount on was? I dont want to hit it with a impact gun and over tighten it. Second, has anyone heard of "blocking the engine mount"? Sounds like a bad idea but better than a solid mount. Not literally putting a block in the mount. Just figured I'd ask here on the "start up page"? Thanks a bunch everyone. Mike "please everyone on vacation in Florida get out of the passing lane" Matiska.

Torque specs are available in the Factory Service Manuals. I think the FSMs for all three generations are available in the respective stickys. I know the 3rd Gen. is.
Generally speaking I never use an impact for assembly. Only for disassembly.

sounds like they weren't tight to begin with cause i've never has engine mounts come loose on their own. torquing some nuts and bolts just isn't necessary. never used torque wrench on engine mount bolts/nuts. just tighten them back up and make sure there's a lock washer under the nut.

Well all I can say is thanks. I agree I'd never use an impact on a tighten. Never have. I really know better. But on uninstall... Pardon the sarcasm. I was using a lift going down, with a jack and a 2by 4 lifting the motor off the mounts and found out the mounts I got were the wrong ones. And the motor mounts from "88" were literally broken in half. Like a large cup spooning a small cup with a part of rubber melted through the middle broke all th way through! It's after midnight and I'm super mad. So I drove my car with a light foot all the way home and It got me here! So anyways. I need new motor mounts. And just cant find them. Text me after ten. I just dont have the findings. No auto part store. Thinking about strapping or welding. WooHoo

racing beat sells some nice poly mounts for the fc, there pretty cheap too

world of difference when i did it, engine feels alot smoother, would never go back to the stock rubber ones

and just gun them on, no big deal if you no what your doing....but if you dont, then just use a socket wrench

The stock motor Mounts are basically Rubber with studs sticking out of it.
The rubber can shear and then the motor mount is done.Split in half.
Guys have gone as Far as using "HOCKEY PUCKS" to make their own motor mounts.Put a Bolt right through 2 pucks and bolt the engine back down,,Primitive, but it works.
You can find all sorts of variations too,,like aluminum, poly, etc.
choose what ya like, they all do the same job. They hold the engine in Place while ya drive the living Daylights out of your car!
