Question Timing

How Do I time my 82 Gsl Rx7. I have a haynes manual. and it has two ways to time it and says you have to find the chassis # but i looked under the hood above the brake booster and there is now chassis #. Stupid question but I can figure it out.

AK

on front pully there are 2 marks. (notches) 1 should be yellow 1 should be red. (yellow is leading red is trailing. if they have both been painted white then 1st mark is leading in the way engine spins. start ya car and warm to normal temp in park. conect timing light to the front rota housings bottom plug lead thats the leading plug.( top plug is trailing, same on rear housing) make sure idle is at 800 or 900 rpm what ever it idles at. point timing light at marks on front pulley, as you are checking leadin the pointer on front cover should line up with the first timing mark. if not loosen the 6mm bolt at base of dizzy at sowly turn untill it does. DO BOLT UP, give car wee rev at recheck idle speed and timing mark. adjust if needed again. if it lines up connet timing light to front top plug lead trailing. and it should line up with second mark if not there adjustment rod coming out of side of dizzy. loosen and move untill it lines up. give car a rev and make sure it advances when reving and ya all good to go. carfull of the fan it will grap you
