TII Calipers
Hey Fellow RX7 forum members,
Was just wondering about putting TII calipers on my S5 GX.
I hear that the calipers are amazing and require cross drilled rotors.
True? or is there anything I need to look out for?
Thanks,
Aspect

There is no such thing as a GX model. In North America, there was a Base, SE, GXL, GTU, GTUs, TII & Convertible. In Japan, they used GT, GTX, GTR model designations. You probably have a GXL, as I mentioned.
Cross drilled rotors are good for 2 things: looking pretty, and cracking around the holes. Standard blank rotors will work just as well.

I'm really sure that my model is GX. Just got it from Big *****. My thread says ON... I reside in Canada but yes Cross drilled rotors add extra air ventilation for better braking and cooling for the pads, no?

Alright, I found one decent reference on the "GX" in Canada, but it only mentioned the S4 version. In '87, it was the luxury package, which means it wasn't a base, but it wasn't quite a GXL either. The simplest way is to go look at your front brakes. If they look like your rears, they're single piston (which all base models had). If they're bigger, they're 4-pot brakes that all other models (including the TII) had.
Drilled rotors might dissipate heat a little better if you're on a track and braking hard repeatedly, but it's not going to do jack on the street. You're just not jamming on the brakes over and over again. As I said before, they're basically good for looking nice, until they crack.
