If your '88 is a GXL, then it already has the same brakes.
Otherwise, you can keep the stock master cylinder but it will have a bit more travel. The TII/4 piston cylinder has a bit bigger bore.

Unfortunately it was a base model w/ the single pot calipers.
Has anyone run the turbo master cylinder on the non-turbo booster? I know I'll have higher pedal effort, but how much higher?
