Is there a way to tell if my apex seals have been replaced in the past?

NJ Is there a way to tell if my apex seals have been replaced in the past?

I bought my rx7 through a private seller who only had the car for a few months and didnt know when the car was serviced last. i was wondering if theres any way to tell if the apex seals have been replaced before without pulling the motor apart? the car seems to run well and id like it to last. I havent had the car for long and i love the roatary so far, but im new to it and am willing to learn.

Try doing a compression test. Compare your results to your overall mileage. I use that as an indicator, but by no means is it a guaranteed answer, and you get a good idea of how healthy your motor is out of the deal!

Just check for signs of the motor being pulled apart at the housings, etc.that should give you an idea.

place called IRP in metuchen, central NJ has a compression machine where he can check it for you. (Rotary engines are different than piston engines and can't use old fashion compression tools to find out)

yeah without pulling the motor apart theres really no way to tell but like everyone said look for signs.usually after a rebuld the housings and plates are painted. And U can do a compression test with a regular piston engine compression tester to give u a good idea of were ur engine is in life.U just have to remove the valve or hold in the valve that releases the air .U should see 3 even bounces as ur cranking the car.oviously the mazda rotary engine compression tester is way more efficient and accurate but usually no one has one lol.How to do a compression test on a rotary engine is a very well documented subject and theres all kinds of videos of how to do it on youtube.Good luck i hope ur engine is good to go
