Tach not working.

I have a 83 Rx7 and It sat up for 9 years. It has the stock 12a and no emission stuff. I got it running and the tack looks like its trying to work but only at high rps it moves up to 1. I have no idea whats wrong. Has anyone had this problem or is it just me.

i would guess you have a faulty gauge, might just be gummed up

there are shops that will repair gauges usually for less than it would cost to replace them, but if its trying to move i would say you are getting a signal so it's probably in the gauge

I relocated the battery in my '88 the other day and the tach also stopped working. It jumped around a bit on start-up and just quit. Turns out I must have bumped the fuse box and created a short. All it took to get it working again was to simply move around the wires under the fuse box. Just something to think about...

Make sure the trailing coil is firing. Check the coil and ignitor.
