Switching From FI to Carb
Hey guys, Im new to this whole thing and wanted to switch my 1990 Rx7 Convertable over from fuel injection to Carb. Im allready making an Intake but I need to know if its possible. I noticed the two extra fuel injector holes on the block and didnt know if i needed to plug them or run plenums to them. If you could point me in the direction of another post I would be very aprecitiave thank you for youre time.
those injectors could be left in it to block the holes or blocking plugs can be bought. mazdatrix and i think racing beat sells them. u'll need a pressure regulator to get the pressure down to an acceptable level for a carb. what type of carb u plan to use? also, intakes can be bought unless ur just wanting to make ur own.

Thanks for the info yea im not sure which carb i will run im open for suguestions. I was leaning towards a holley just for price, avaliblilty, and tuneablity im not sure which one to use or what Jets. I havent looked that far into it but could deffinetly use some advice. I took the lower manifold off last night and made a flange out of it and I had a carb spacer laying around the shop Im going to post pics of my progress. I know some realy great welders that I work with that are skeptical but are interested in welding it up.
how do u plan on using the car? if u plan on drifting, u might want to stick with the big 2bbl carbs like weber, dellorto, or mikuni. the holley tends to stumble in hard cornering due to it sitting sideways compaired to how they do on a V8. i've heard that center hung floats help but i have no experience with them. there's lots of info here on tuning the 2bbl concerning jets, emulsion tubes, etc. in fact, some ppl have listed what they r using for their setup. racing beat mods their holley specifically to run on a rotary. so u might want to consider getting one from them rather than get one off a V8 and try to make it work urself. just depends on how much of a headache ur willing to endure.

Thanks for everything you given me a new idea for the intake then Ill mount it front to back not side to side how it sits in a normal car and will see how it runs.I mean im not a fluid engineer but the issue you described may be elievated by rotating the mounting position and if it doesnt ill go with the webbers im just not a fan I had them on my 914.
do you have any actual reason for doing this? if you havent modified the engine at all i really have no idea why you would ever want to do this, carbs are archaic technology that should be avoided at all costs IMO. especially on a rotary.
