Suspension failed?

I have a 1986 RX7 na. Ok so this is what happened when i was taking a sharp right turn at the usual turn I always do it at going home from work. I didn't even hit anything, I was just turning right and all of a sudden I felt my car slowly going left. I'm just glad this happened now than in a public road or freeway.

There are more pictures here http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/Hombow/RX7/

I'm hoping that only the suspension is messed up. My control arm seems fine so thats a good thing. I'm not sure what specific part this is, is it the shock absorber? But either way I'll just have to replace my whole suspension now. What are good recommendations for cheap but good quality suspension? I was thinking of getting coilovers.

Wow. Never seen that before.

Looks like the strut housing failed. You need some new struts. Not sure what your options are but the FAQ in the 2nd gen section might have some useful info. I'm a 3rd gen guy mostly.

Yeah thats a busted strut mount.

Depending on your budget you will want to replace that one strut with a similar mileage unit or get some new ones.

Of course...if one strut is so bad that it failed like that you should probably replace the struts vs replacing just that one. And you will want to replace all 4 struts at once.

As for your options, it all depends on your budget. If it allows it would also be a great time to get new springs as well.

Wow thank you all for the replies. Hopefully I'll have enough to fix this.

Not sure what they have for 2nd gens, but check over at www.re-speed.com

Pretty sure they've got what you need, but not positive. Good luck.
