Stock Miata shifter in s4 TII?

The shifter in my 10ae is jacked up (threads are 100% destroyed). I have a friend who has his stock Miata shifter, can this drop into my s4? I have seen a thread where some used a Miata short shifter with minor modification to the ball size, I wonder if the procedure would be the same.

S4 Shifter: M12 x 1.5

The new Miata is 10x1.5 so that won't spin on w/o modification. It looks like all miata pattern are either 10x1.5 or 10x1.25 so modification would be required no matter what.

Mods, I am not a vendor, nor do I have any affiliation, just trying to be helpful... if this isn't allowed, remove please. Moddiction.com has a wide range of different shifter patterns, colors and weights. I had an Anvil weighted/countersunk shift **** in my AP1 when I had it. Hope this helps.

BTW, "miatawhat?" was very unhelpful

I mean the actual shifter arm which bolts into the tranny, I'm not concerned with the difference in thread pitch.

If it's got the shift **** already, I'd say give it a shot. That's what he was talking about, if you don't have a shift **** for the miata shifter.

Fit for me

I put an after market ebay short shifter in my s4. The unit was advertised as fitting both miata and rx7. Works fine. Hope that helps.
