Starting 12a without fuel pump

Hey I picked up a FB has been sitting for a few years still has good compression needs a fuel pump I just want to verify that it runs I'm going to change all the fluids before I start it but should I pour a tiny bit of 2 stroke oil down the spark plug holes and hand crank it. And I want too hook up a fuel line from the carb into a jar to start it do I need to hold it above the carb so gravity does it's work or will it create a vaccume.

Not really an FB carbed guy but I can't see this working as the engine needs about 4psi of fuel to continuously run.
I'm sure you can see if the thing will fire up if you spray some Quick Start into it,but as far as keeping it running you will need constant fuel, and that means a pump.
