smoking turbo/afr question

ok so i'm having a problem with my turbo smoking. (coming out between the wastegate and coolant/oil passage) after i searched i figured it must be a ventilation problem which i'll be taking car of ASAP. I just wanted to confirm that this indeed sounds to everyone else like a ventilation problem so i don't waste my time.

also with a mostly stock setup, what is a normal AFR at idle(probably 14.7)? i think i was at 10.9 or something but my car hasn't been tuned yet.

I don't know what you mean about a ventilation problem. If it's smoking at all times, you probably have a blown seal in the turbo, which is allowing oil to burn.

Idle AFRs will be around 11s to 13s depending on engine temp and tuning. Once warm, my car is happiest idling at 12.5 to 13.0.

i meant a crankcase ventilation problem. i was reading on an older post that if you cap the nipple on the center iron (and oil filler neck) it'll cause some smoking. the nipple on the oil filler neck runs to the charcoal canister.

from what i'm gathering, i'm going to need to run a vented catch can between these 2 lines.

also, i just bought a replacement turbo. both of them smoke which leads me to believe it's not the turbo like i assumed originally.

Rich ratios will also cause a lot of smoke as oil is washed into the combustion cycle. Lean it out, and your smoke may go away.

10.9 at idle is not only untuned, but plain crazy and it's amazing it idles at all.
