White smoke? Sounds like it could be a coolant seal. If you get to the point where you figure out how much a rebuild might cost you - you might consider a good running pull out. If the timing is right, I might be ready to pull the motor from my car. It is an 87 that runs strong. Presently driven regularly in my 87 GXL that will be undergoing a full TII swap. I will be advertising the engine as running in the car shortly - keep watching the FS section if you are interested.

How many miles are on the car? How many miles on the engine? Has it ever been overheated? Has it been well maintained?

The car has just under 115K. I have documentation that indicates that the engine was replaced at some point which puts the mileage on the engine at around 75K . I can dig up the documentation if/when you are really interested. The car in general has been very well maintained. Never oerheated, runs very strong, starts immediately and runs the whole warm up cycle flawlessly. I will run out and get a pic of the engine bay for you and post it later tonight.

As promised - here are a couple pics of my motor. You can probably get an idea of how well I treat it. Like I said, the car runs perfectly and I wouls like to sell the motor and tranny at once if possible. I want to keep the car running so whoever might want it can actually drive the car and see how good the motor is. As soon as I sell the motor I will be doing the TII swap.

really not trying to buy another motor, this one has 5k on it so if my boy is right it should be a coolant seal, thanks.

if it's a coolant seal you'll need a rebuild anyways, and i thought you said it had 75k on the motor?
