small fuel injectors for better mpg
If the engine is never been over 3800 RPM then you are easily entertained. And if you are that concerned about mpg and that easily entertained a Prius would also be satisfying. And that solution makes as much sense practically and economically as what you're proposing.

i m not THAT concerned with mpg .... i had a theoretical question and it was answered well by bluetii and diabolical1 n others.
