If you can afford it single all the way. Do me a favor ive seen lots of street cars with stupid huge turbos. Dont do it!!! Get some thats gonna be fun to drive. It needs to be responsive or its gonna be boring. Just my 2 cents i guess.

If you plan to go turbo, that is money.
If you plan to go Turbo then you need to control the fuel..and that is money spent in an ECU and Fuel.
you need exhaust,Bow off valve.waste gate,manifold..and the list goes on.
..and that is just IF you decide to go with a Turbo.
I see 2500 in a decent turbo and a Half assed ECU(although you can get an older Haltech o r a New RE ECu and spend less than 1000 bucks.)..you are over budget already..so either deepen your pockets or lower your expectations.
I have a TII engine already and I got $4k in the Turbo setup and ECU..

If you know what you're getting yourself into go for the single but I would personally stick with the BNR's.

A very quick breakdown:

-turbo...$1500 (sounds like you already have one)
-manifold....$1000 at least
-wastegate....$500
-downpipe fabrication....$500 (or more)
-intercooler piping...$400 (you DO already have an upgraded front mount, right? If not, add that to the bill....$1000)
-misc plumbing, fittings, gaskets, etc....$400

Then of course the car needs to be retuned.

At least with the BNR turbos they bolt right on. The car will still need to be retuned, and the stock intercooler is not enough.
That is really pricey.... If he waits and takes his time he can go single for half that... I put my whole kit together for 1800 just picking up deals off other members.

all you need is a single less part just as much power and more reliable easier to upgrade.

single turbos. twins dont make a huge difference when compared to single since the motor can only take in so much air, could be wrong tho but my 2cents

$3,300 isn't much of a budget to be converting to single. I'd say a fair total from twins to single is about $7,000 for high quality parts. BNRs are what you could be looking for as well as aZe solenoid rack and twin simplification. I believe you'll remain in budget and have a fairly reliable turbo system.

Somewhat of a confusing statement. There's a huge difference, the point of retaining sequential twins is the responsiveness of the system. It's not necessarily the motor which dictates how much air it can take vs other factors.

I mean no offense to you, but the prices listed seem a little bit exaggerated.
  • BW makes great turbochargers at fairly low cost compared to the ball bearing Garrett's. (With reason of course) There are many manifolds (not talking about the ebay ones) that are available for a lot less than $1,000-even if they Also are used, a good name brand will do well.
  • Wastegates don't cost anything near $500 unless you end up needing two.
  • For the intercooler, you can get the direct bolt in vmount kit from Jason (Rx7store) for just over $1,000; which includes a radiator AND intercooler.
-Front mounts aren't a very popular choice, they have shown higher water temps than a vmount set up but front mount kits are very costly.
  • IC pipe fabrication shouldn't cost anything near $400 either, the kit from jason comes with a pipe ready for twins or single (you would need a greddy elbow though)
  • Plumbing and misc. sounds about right though, give or take.
  • Fuel system is also very expensive, I'd say anywhere from $500-1200. (pump, injectors, fpr, etc.)
  • Standalone ECU and tuning... varies greatly on area, probably around $500 for a dyno tune.
  • Exhaust and BOV......etc etc, you get the point.
