Single DIN Stereo Installation

My base FD came with no stereo. I bought a kit that is supposedly for the car for a single DIN. However, I don't see how the face plate will be strong enough to hold the stereo steady. Can anyone advise as to how the the stereo unit is normally secured in a single DIN installation in an FD. It doesn't appear to be straightforward as in other cars where I have installed a stereo.

IIRC the factory AM/FM receiver had a large pointed rubber bushing that inserted into a hole in the metal dash bracing directly behind the din opening. That said, neither of the aftermarket head units I've used over the years have used that mount. They were professionally installed and used some sort of "kit" or what was provided with the unit

As above there should be a rubber bush that pushes into a hole in a metal bracket at the rear. If for whatever reason it's not there you'll have to improvise....or buy a single din cubby box that will give a little support to the unit when installed above it.
