Simple Question

What do I really have to check and beware when I want to get a RX-7 FD?

Yes, absolutely.

Most of them are lemons, in poor condition, requiring lots of work. A local guy bought an FD that had been sitting for a year and wasn't tagged and inspected. He had it towed to his house. When we got it started it needed a new OMP, purge control solenoid, and the ECU was fried. It still has an exhaust that's rusting through and oil pan gasket that's leaking like a sieve. But he's lucky - the boost control system is working properly and the engine is in good shape.

Many, many FD owners buy the car and find out that it needs as much more money in basic repairs as they paid for it. Just because the car looks good doesn't mean a thing.

There is a FAQ linked at the top of this forum.
