Simple Distributer Questions

I am not a big fan of efi and like the idea of old school carbs and distributer setups. I have noticed only older rotaries have carbs and distributers. To convert a newer efi engine to a carbed distributer setup:

1) Can a distributer drop in place of the Crank angle sensor on any year engine?

2) If so, what distributers are commonly used by people?

3) Some of the old school mazda threads have locked distributers, what is that?

I am sure this has been discussed somewhere but I cannot find my exact questions on the forum search engine.

Thanks!

1) yes 2) 81-85 12a distributor. 3) this means the timing is set at a fixed point all the time, with no curve.

u will also need a fuel pressure regulator since efi uses higher pressure than a carb does.

Why though?

1) Can a distributer drop in place of the Crank angle sensor on any year engine?

2) If so, what distributers are commonly used by people?
Yes. Use the 81-85 dizzy since it is electronic.

3) Some of the old school mazda threads have locked distributers, what is that?
Because that's the only way to prevent timing advance which will blow up a turbocharged engine. It also results in an engine that only runs well at WOT under boost.
