S5 N/A Open to LSD swap
Hey everybody. I have a 89 Rx7 GTU and swapped out the open diff. with what i thought to be a T2 lsd diff. Ive read many threads before hand to research what needed to be done to do this.
I was expecting to have to modify my axles and drive shaft to fit the T2 diff. To my surprise the LSD bolted right up.
Can anyone tell me why this is. I opened the diff up before it went in and it is LSD. Is it S5 GTUs or T2?
Id like to know.
Thank you

You must have got a N/A LSD ..
Count the Ribs of the Pumpkin on the rear of the Diff..if it does NOT have ELEVEN then it is an N/A Diff...N/A has NINE.
..and the TII diff would NEED the appropriate CV axles to fit the Diff..as the N/A axles have a smaller bolt pattern. The Diff flange is not the same either so the Driveshaft would need to be N/A to TII or even better,be an actual TII Driveshaft hooked up to the TII trans.

Ok thank you that helps quite alot. I counted those ribs and it only has nine meaning its a N/A diff. So is this diff. the same clutch type diff. as a TII or would it be a VLSD like in the S5 GTUs.

N/A LSD had 2 types..Clutch type and Viscous..
I think the S5 was a Viscous(fluid type).
Now,I am not sure what the TII Diffs were..sorry..Brain fart!
