S5 Coilovers on an S4
I have two cars. A heavily modded N/A 89 Gtu in fairly poor shape and an 87 TII in good shape with no engine (transplant coming in the spring). At this point I've decided it would be best to build the 87, take some of the parts from the 89 while keeping it in running condition and make the 87 pretty nice. The 89 has a pretty decent set of fully adjustable coilovers on it that I want to put on the 87. Will the coilovers from the 89 fit on the 87? my biggest concern is the rears. They have 4 bolts on the top where they mount to the strut tower.

coilovers design for the Rx7 from 1986-1991 are interchangeable. They fit all those years.
The 4 bolts on the front is normal strut construction mounting points for the Front suspension.2 bolts attach the top of the strut at the rear.

hmmm, well I know the coilovers on the rear of the 89 do in fact have 4 bolts where they attach at the top. Would it just be a simple matter of drilling the two other holes on the 87?

they have 2 bolts..
two 14mm nuts hold the tops, one 17mm bolt holds the base of the shock to the spindle assembly.
Trust me,I've done enough swaps.

I thought for some reason on mine it had 4, as I said they modified the car quite a bit. After running out there and re-checking though Im happy to report that I was wrong. Which is great news really cuz it means I can put these bad boys on the TII without any modification at all
