S4 NA low throttle surge

Hey all glad to be part of the rx7 community! A couple of weeks ago I bought an 88 convertible. Supposedly old owner dailied it, then one morning it'd crank but wouldn't start, so it sat for a few years before we picked it up. Turns out the intake pipe going to the manifold was loose and messing it up. Tightened that up and runs decent. However it surges pretty bad at say 1500rpm in neutral. Then revs fine at high throttle. It probably just needs some sort of adjustment. Is this what happens if the tps is off? My dad was messing around and turning screws. Looking forward to doing a tune up and hopefully driving it! Has good oil pressure, decent compression, still starts up fine even when hot.

If it sat for a few years, your first step should be to R&R the entire fuel system. Gas tank, lines, sock filter and injectors

That alone may fix your problem

So far we've flushed the gas, did that before starting it. Fuel pump seems to shoot lots of fuel when you take the line off and turn the key, But we're going to change all the filters this weekend and run sea foam through it. I've seen many posts about adjusting tps, idle speed and even and idle mixture screw. Thought that would help it.

it may, but both of which need to be done after the car has been WARMED up, as in 20 min drive

check out foxed.ca for all OEM FSMs
