Exclamation Rx7 RPM warning malfunction

Hi all, since my last post here a long time ago, I switched out my old engiine, the rotor housings were REALLY scored. Anyways, I got a rebuilt engine, all has been well for nearly a year.

On to my problem... Today my RPM warning buzzer has been turning on whenever I turn my steering wheel to the RIGHT and my speed is ABOVE 40km/h. It then stops when my RPM exceeds 5800RPM.

Is this a short in the column causing this? How can I disable the buzzer. Any reply would be GREATLY appreciated, its ear-piercing loud. I've searched everywhere and no one seems to be having this issue.

Thanks.

Check your oil and coolant level.

Hey Aaron, that was the first thing I checked. Both were full.

There was a loose connector under my dash (the clip is broken). I taped it up and went for a drive, all is fixed...

Thanks for the reply!

Its an 86 N/A. The connector looked like it was going to the cluster from the main harness right beside the column. It's such a rats nest in there from when the previous owner installed the fuel switch. I'm sort of scared to find what else the previous owner did to the car other then killing the previous engine.

All I know is that my problem is fixed, maybe it is a coincidence. I'll be sure to post if this happens again. The warning still works, so.... I'm not going to investigate further.
