rx7 rolling chassis

Newbie here. I am planning on buying an 88 rx7 with no motor or trans. Is it possible for me to put a motor/trans in for under 2 grand? if so, what are my most viable options?

It's a loaded question..it all depends on how much the engine/trans will cost ya and how much of the rest of the car is there.
You can get deals all day long..then again some guy will sell you a set up and break your wallet.
I'd be on the hunt locally,on line and search this and other forums.
BUT..sorry you will not find parts in this TECH section.

*oh it also depends on if you car is an FB,FC,or FD.
you definitely won't get a FD engine and trans for under 2k and slap that in and get the car mobile..UNLESS you know guys with lots of jiggle keys!

id have to agree with misterstyx69 it all really depends on what you want factory stock or 400hp? ported, non ported. how much of the work can you do yourself? did ya get a nice core? which the answer is generally no or else it wouldnt be out of a car. ive seen some rebuilt to factory specs complete engines in that neighborhood. but more so knocking on the $3k door. best bet get a fresh built keg and once your able source guys here for parts probably the easiest and most cost effective way of getting yourself a nice reliable engine.

Engine Rebuild these guys are in indiana not too bad on the prices either
