Depends on your budget, for me the fc does a good job of squeezing every penny I have. Love the fd but not realist at this stage in life.

It's all about the drop top...

The generation chose me. The FC has the convertible. Being in drought-ridden Southern California, I don't concern myself with leaks.

The looks also makes my heart skip a beat too.

Unhappy Please help me

Hello guys sorry for diaturbing

Im a new blog member. So im still learning how to use this.

I have a little question….I was wondering what are some of the popular swaps that go into a Mazda RX7 Savanna 1982 (1st generation) I'm looking for something with turbo and that has lots of HP. I would also like to know if there are some possible JDM engine swaps? I’m not an expert so sincerely I have no idea….I’m just trying to help a good friend of mine. Any information regarding engine choice, best engine, price, convenience, advices are all well welcomed. I apologize for my ignorance ahead in time. PLEASE HELP ME…. thank you and i appologize again for the disturb.

I love my FC vert but if I could I would buy a FD with a quickness. They have better styling(IMHO) and more power. My car is a series 5 and has parts that cost an arm and a leg to replace. All in all, any rx7 is a ton of fun and whatever choice you make will come with consequences(rotaries like to be worked on).

I've always been a huge Initial D fan, and have loved the FD since. Having owned a modified 91' 300ZX Twin-Turbo and deciding that I was through with the unreliability this entails I decided to look for a new "fun" car. Ideally I wanted something below 2,500 lbs, manual steering and normally-aspirated. I used to love turbo engines, however now I love the simplicity and reliability that NA power-plants deliver. I've always been fascinated by rotaries and wanted to own one. The rotary engine is probably one of the finest NA engines every produced. The key traits in a new car were: reliability, lightness and simplicity. I was considering a few other cars including an AE86 or AW11, however the allure of the rotary and the great value for your money that you can get with a SA/FB made me decide to get a first-gen. To me the SA/FB best captures the qualities of reliability, lightness and simplicity.

FD, no troubles?! Thats news to me, but I think the main consideration here is simply price if it was me. Both chassis are starting to become somewhat dated, so you're pretty much going to be dealing with issues on either car. But if I could pick up an FD for anywhere near FC pricing, I would still take the FD everyday, but thats just personal preference. I also prefer the updated chassis and suspension of the FD to the relatively simple design of an FC (semi trailing arm rear and McPherson front strut on an FC).

I love the looks and feels of the FD. The best driving experience I've had so far. I can only hope my FC build can come close to the speed and handling of the FD.

I was looking for a car I could afford but still be unique. FC3S fit the bill.

I have wanted an FD for a very long time.. it has always been my dream car to own. I got an RX-8 first a few years ago as my daily driver because it was simply more practical as an "only car" but still had a rotary under the hood.

I have tracked my 8 a few times and have learned to not just like it [which I had from the onset], but respect it for what it can do. Along with other owners I have video evidence that the 8 gets crapped on way more than it deserves... it performs very admirably on a race track. Over the years I have done a few modifications to it to satiate my car-guy appetite but it'll never be the RX-7 I've always wanted so I finally pulled the trigger the other week.

Now I am working on getting my recently acquired FD in top shape, perhaps one day bring it to the track when it is ready and see how it stacks up to the 8. For now it is a project and I am very happy to be the proud owner of both an RX-7 and RX-8.

A white s5 Fc has been one of my dream cars since I watched Initial D... I've sat in fd's and just a little to tight feeling. Along with fb... It is just a happy medium for me!

I wonder how many people here are fans of Initial D, I'd wager a fair amount!

If money isn't an issue i say the FD. They look a lot better in my opinion. Whatever you decide to do make sure you know how to maintain one. They aren't the same as a v6 or v8 where you just change the oil every so often. If a rotary needs attention you better give it some asap or it will make your life a little difficult. Kind of like a wife sometimes

FD was an easy choice for me as I've always loved them. One of the places I work has all kinds of early-90s supercars in (Ferraris/Astons/Lambos) and I still think the FD looks better than all of them, especially in 99-spec guise.

Buy what you like and then buy the best one you can afford. Saving a little now can be painfully expensive later.
