dd my 86 its so much fun i dont think i will ever drive another car. but i have 5 fc s that run and drive and 6 more just chilling in my yard. the reason i got my 86 was 2 dd it has 186k and only 55psi front rotor 60psi rear and has been that way for a year. plus i drift it on weekends. and it is still more reliable than my mercedes.

A Mazda Rotary powered car is the only model and engine type I have ever owned. Except for having to get under the dash at times on my FC3C I have found they are some of the easiest to work on.
Are there any other cars to drive out there?

I know this is going to make me look waaay old, but I'm the original owner of an 83. My parents bought me the car as graduation present. I LOVE IT! I've driven it everyday since I got it. Yep, that's 27 years! I can't imagine myself driving anything else. I live in California, so the weather is great pretty much all year long.
I believe someone else posted the key to keeping any car for a really long time: routine maintenance. I've always stayed on top of any minor problems - before they became a major, costly problem. I can't remember the last time I had to fix anything. The last 5-6 years it's just been changing the oil, filters and belts.
As for the poor gas mileage, it's really not that bad. I'm averaging about 19 mpg hwy/city. Hell, I might be getting better mileage than my hubby's 4x4 pickup. And it's super fun to drive!

California climate is an advantage. I always had a winter-beater here in the midwest. Didn't even try to start mine if ambient was any colder than about 15 F. or it would flood as surely as Lindsay Lohan flunks pee tests. Since it was light, had wider than stock rubber and no limited-slip it didn't do too well on slick streets anyway.

Use my FC as my "regular" driver. Not daily though; I take the bus =P.
But honestly, as long as the car is sorted, doesn't seem like a bad daily. I haven't had any problems that would make me hesitant to drive it daily if I wanted to.

I use my Rx7 FD as a DD. I have only put 2500 miles on it in the past 4 months though, since I work from home.
My biggest complaint as a DD is the storage space, there just isn't much. My '92 MR2 Turbo has more storage space, and is more practical.
My FD is also a R1, so no cruise or steering adjustment, which makes it much more difficult to get in and out of the car.
All complaints aside, FD's are a blast, and I have gotten more compliments from strangers & Valet drivers than any other car I have owned. Luckily, no speeding tickets yet.

I have been daily driving my fd3s to and from school (around 140 miles) so I guess ill list my pros and cons
Pros:
I get looks everywhere (I guess thats the only one)
Cons:
Gas mileage is terrible compared to my old DD m3
Ride can be harsh
The kicker is, the more time I drive it, the more time I spend diagnosing new small issues.

i drive mine every day, a 91 n/t vert. sucky drive right now cuz i need front shocks (did the back already) and my low coolant light comes on every day... so she takes in a lil water in the mornings, corksport radiator and silicone hoses on the way!! =D
its a fun car to drive, but coming from a 97 cobra mustang, i feel like i need more power.. but soon i will think of a swap. or turbo.. soo soon this rx7 will be more fun to drive and getting sideways is always fun!

I DD my FD, snow took its toll on it. gas mileage is horrible(was expected). Random issue with it. However it has never ever left me stranded any where. its a good DD depending on how deep your pockets are and how mechanically inclined you are!

The FC (89 Turbo) is my only car, so it's gotta be my daily driver. I think it has a few issues that need sorted out, then it'll be better to drive. It's good to see people that have FCs as reliable daily drivers. Makes me feel a little less stupid about switching from an Impreza to an RX-7 in the middle of February.

Nothing to my knowledge haha, maybe I just have a heavy foot, 10MPG city about, 25+ MPG highway. Waiting for it to warm up and put away some more funds for the FD to pull the motor and crack it open and also to replace/clean/whatever things while im in there.

It's really a fun car to drive around town cops love to pull me over for any reason (visible emissions, misaligned headlights and really loud) other than that I love it more than any car I've ever driven the only downer is the freaking gas I put in $10 bucks in a day of 87 octane.
If you add it up with oil, insurance, tickets and misc parts I spend well over $600 a month yikes and I just realized that.

My 91 TII FC is my daily driver. I just got her about 6 weeks ago but I haven't driven my truck since I got her. I owned a 89 non-turbo years ago and I drove that car daily too. I had that one for over two years then I got rid of it. I don't know why I did and always regretted it too. I work about 5 miles from my house and the route is 35 to 45 mph twisty roads so I don't take it on the highway much. So with almost all city driving and sitting in crazy amounts of traffic sometimes so far I have averaged about 17 mpg. And that I don't think is too bad considering the non-turbo I had only averaged 18 mpg.
I do plan to get a beater Honda for the winter though, only because around where I live even when it might have a light dust snow the city dumps an ungodly amount of salt all over the roads even when its not snowing. My car is rust free so I plan to keep it that way.
