RX-7 FD Fuel Pump Wiring Mod

So, here's the dumb DIY process I used to attempt the notorious Fuel Pump Wiring Mod to attempt to keep the voltage at the pump from dropping;

-Went to the auto parts store, bought a pack of ring terminals, inline taps (those clampy things you slap onto a wire to tap power to/from said wire), shrink tubing, and an inline fuse block with a 10A fuse

-Accessed the Main Fuse Block wiring from the bottom to tap into the switched power wire to the fuel pump from the EGI main relay (at least I think that's the one I tapped into)

-Tapped the inline fuse into the (what I think was the) main power line to the fuel pump (I recall it being a blue/red wire but hell if I can even remember)

-Terminated the fuse with a ring terminal and connected to the battery, and installed the fuse in the fuse block

Aaaaaaaand after a road test, I turned the key off and everything but the engine shut off. I could actually drive the car with the key out of the ignition, just without the radio or any of the power options. Or, y'know, turn signals.

So after that lengthy recap, where did I go wrong? I found plenty of write-ups on this but I can never find concise info on what wire to tap power into and retain normal functionality.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would start by removing everything and putting it back as it was. As a rule I avoid modifying factory wiring at nearly all costs especially using those cheesey vampire connectors. Are you having fuel pressure issues?
