RX-7 12A TURBO 1980 - whats not original

Hello,

I'm very tempted to purchase this little red beast. It's from 1980, with 220 000 km.

For sure it's not 100% in factory specc, which I plan to rebuild it to.

Can you please take a look on pics and tell me what might be wrong with it.

Imho:
Alloy rims are not from factory
"Mazda" mark in front is on wrong side (left instead of right side)
big wing on back.

Thanks in an advance

T.

It appears to have a 1981 and up front end. You would need 79-80 front fenders, bumper and lower valence to correct that. Looking at the rear....It also looks like later model year tail lamps are in place and the bumper is wrong as well....You sure this is a 1980? There were no "turbo" rx7's in 1980 either. I believe the turbo was jap spec for 1984-85 although I may be wrong. Good luck with your build.

If you are looking for one to restore to original, look elsewhere. Somebody has worked very hard, for very long, taking this car in the completely opposite direction.

Finding one that is closer to "all original" would be much easier. With this one, you'd be ordering damn near everything for the car, undoing every performance modification along the way. Just doesn't make sense to me, know what I mean?
