Runs like crap....
Runs like crap....
1985 GSL
new fuel pump, fuel filter, coils, commercially rebuilt carn. So....I can drive it for 10+ miles 2-3 times, no issues. Then out of the blue, it starts running like crap and I have to pedal the gas to keep it running and limp home. If it dies, there is no starting any time soon...it has finally done it in the driveway (only did it driving previously)...asking for suggestions as to what to look for now that it's finally "broke" in the driveway...thanks!!! Mike

Have you inspected the gas tank or replaced all the fuel soft lines? Crud can float around and clog the pickup or even make it to the carb. Then, it settles back until it's picked back up again.
Other than that, it's hard to find an issue when it's not reproducible on demand.

welcome to the board.
if you can get it to do it again, try tapping on the float bowls (they are located on opposite ends of the carb - where the sight glasses are) with a rubber mallet or something that won't damage it. if it happens to clear up when you do it, then it's probably sticky floats. aside from fuel flow issues, it's the first thing i can think of. however, you've changed both the pump and the filter, so flow to the carb is likely to be okay.
also, here's a RAD Potential video on carbs, so maybe you can get something from it.

Thanks!!!
Today...just to be able to count it out...I went ahead and drained the fuel tank. Didn't look like any water was in there and it was clean (no debris)...so another thing that I know what it isn't....

Your probably right...but I hate doing it...it is a commercially rebuilt Nikki (National Carburetors)...I think today I am going to drill a hole in my gas cap if for no other reason than to say that isn't it either (should nothing change)...
Nah....when I installed the new pump I disconnected the feed line from the carb and there was definitely good flow....thinking maybe it might be building a vacuum so I will be drilling a hole in the gas cap..nothing to lose by trying...
If the vent is plugged, it will build vacuum and give you the sympions are are describing. The vent is easy to get to and dumps into a hole in the driver's side frame rail. Worth a check. Just because you had flow at the carb does not mean the vent is clear.
