rmp spike/drop

So for the past little while every time i accelerate in my fd i get to about 3000rpm and then the revs quickly shoot up to 4000rpm (with no power gain) then drops down to around 32000rpm then continues its normal acceleration. I am not letting go of the gas/punching the throttle. and it does not always happen.. I have a few ideas on what might be wrong but i am by no means an expert.

Help?

Not sure if it could be the same cause since its a different car, but back when I had my Miata I had this exact same problem. Turned out it was a loose ground. There was a specific ground on the Miata that was known for doing that, not sure if there are any like that in the FD.

If you hear the engine revving along with the tach, you need a new clutch.
