Unhappy Reverse doesn't work....

I own a 1990 GXL with 130,xxx miles. I had replaced pretty much everything dealing with the clutch. Re-surfaced the flywheel, clutch, pilot bearing, throw out bearing, and pressure plate. I even replaced the front face plate in the bell housing. After I was done I went to back out of the lift but it wouldn't go into reverse. (This is with my S5 transmission) Every other gear is fine but reverse. I just recently bought an S4 transmission and threw it in tonight. When I was looking at before I bought it, I put my shifter in it to see if reverse would work and it did. But when I installed it it still! doesnt work. -_-
Can anyone tell me whats up???

I replaced the slave. I just dont get how I buy an S4 transmission and it has the same problem....
But what I have found out is my S5 transmission is out on the floor and when I put the shifter in reverse works. -_-

what algaemania said^^

Also, you will need to adjust the clutch, it might not be fully disengaging. Something in your shifter might be misaligned that's causing it to be blocked
