My rear hatch on 79 rx7 is not releasing when I press the button.

Any suggestions to fix this.

 

Can you hear the release solenoid click? If not, test the solenoid's operation by putting power to it. If it works, check the fuses and the release button.

mine got to where it didn't want to work. the plunger was starting to get corrosion building up on it, but after disassembly and cleaning it works great now. there's not really all that much to them, just a plunger and an electromagnet.
