Rear Axle Parts?
Hi this is dbssr1212's dad, I'm not going to post on any of the other boards because I'm not sure which to post on about this. I was looking at the Black Dragon Automotive book last night at the parts for Derrik's Axle swap. He says that he ordered the Mozer axles from Respeed. What other parts will he need? His car is an 84 RX7 with the 12a, the smaller engine. Friends of mine have told me he will need a new Bearing for each axle as well as collars.
Are these bearings they speak of the wheel bearings?
Are these collars included when ordering the bearings?
If you could please help me out I want to surprise him by ordering the right parts for him so he can have them right away and be driving this car; it will be a part of his graduation present.
Will someone please go on Advanceautoparts.com and send me the links for the bearings and collars?
I would really appreciate it and I'm sure he would too.
-Thanks in advance

I believe the collars he's talking about is the retainers it'd be a wise decision in my opinion to go a head and order those with the new bearings that way they'd have a proper seat. You are however going to have to have those pressed. KEEP IN MIND that this is for the stock setup. If he is currently swapping the stock rear in for a different setup then I need to know what yr make and model the rear end is off of. If its different than the stock get back to me and I'll try again. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the help so far he's in the shower so I thought I'd check on this real quick. He's keeping the same rearend he has in the car but just getting new axles because his were bent. The axles are apparently same as the stock that's in his car so what bearings and retainers would he need?

K this is derrik now my dad said he posted on here the other day while i was at school
so heres the question
I can't find which bearings and retainers I need... would I also need spacers? I saw that someone also picked up spacers for their axle swap is this necessary?
The car as said many times is an 84 gsl with the stock rearend and moser axles will be going in from respeed with the new backing plates

I would suggest that you go back to www.re-speed.com and post this question on their forum. Billy (the owner) is very helpful and will get you sorted without the chance of ordering the wrong parts.
Good luck with the project.

is that right?
i thought it was 1 retainer and 1 bearing per axle

Respeed sells the retainers off the same page as the axles. Why are you even dealing with Autozone?
Order from Respeed and you'll get what you need, and it will be quality parts. Going through Autozone, you don't know who made the part, or what kind of quality it is. This isn't really a job you want to do twice, right?
