i been having this wierd rattlesnake sound coming from the engine bay in my FC.
you can only hear it if im shifting at cruising speeds during the gear shift. or if im in neutral revving it to like 3-4k. and it sounds exactly like a rattle snake.

it began to hapen about a month or so after the installation of my T2 turbo. my mechanic says hes never heard anything like it but it sounds like it is coming from the turbo itself but he seemed super confused as he was saying it.

oddly enough. i installed a boost gauge a couple days ago and its reading 12-15lbs which is extremely high considering i was told i was only at 8lbs.

so im beginning to think it is the turbo bc maybe all that boost is causing the noise and the turbo is F-ed up some how.

anybody have any idea what this could be?

 

Take the intake ducting out and spin the turbo by hand. If there is any noise or excessive play, it's toast. Constantly running 15 PSI is not good for the stock turbo, so if it's not dead yet, it will be soon.

ever find out what this was? compressor surge maybe? I'm having a funky, rattling noise coming from my S5 N/A.
