Ratting when idling FD

When the car is idling, theres an intermittent kind of rattle that is pretty noticeable. It mostly is heard when I rev and let the revs fall back down then dissapears. Dont think its a heat shield and just had the exhaust replaed so i dont think its that. Kind of sounds like a dry clutch on a ducati but higher pitched. Just annoying. Any suggestions? I do have shield buzzing that needs sorting too

If it's coming from the bell housing area could be center of the clutch disk loose. If not, maybe turbo control flap and needs the TCA rod adjusted.

Would be a good idea to post up some idea of where you think it is coming from, the best you can tell. The above are just a couple of common things. Precat breakdown can make noise too it's still on the car.

Thanks for the reply. Well I have a couple of exhaust shields buzzing but this is a different sound. As best as I can tell it is coming from more on the passenger side slightly and I guess near the bell housing. Doesnt change however whether the clutch is in or out. Just changes starts/stops during different idles. Which makes me thing something is just loose. Kind of sound as if just a bolt vibrating a lot, which it could be. The hunt continues.

It could be any number of things, but if it's the slower resonance of the idle that sets it off, I'm still leaning toward a heat-shield....either on the turbo or a tunnel exhaust heat-shield. Other things to check off-hand would be the clutch slave hard line. There should be a mounting bracket for the downstream end of the down-pipe that secures it to the transmission...might be something to check as well.
I've had success in chasing such rattles with one of these 2 lb. Neon Orange Dead Blow Hammer . Cheap if you don't have one. Just get the car up and start tapping different areas, components until you hear something that sounds close. Handy for a lot of other things too.

Good points. Havent checked the turbo shield. Ive shimmed the exhaust tunnel shield and helped with some buzzing. I will definitely beat around with a mallet. This sound is different though. Could be a shield and I hope it is! Thanks
