Radiator sensor/switch?

Can someone show me where the wire comes from that connects to this sensor or switch in the bottom drivers side of the radiator?

I don't see anything that reaches that is not plugged in and I don't see it on the wiring diagram either.

This was a replacement radiator from a donor car when it had been hit in the nose so I'm wondering if this is not present on the TII and maybe there on a non-turbo for some reason.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, mine is an '87 TII, and the donor car was an '87 non-turbo.

From: tulsa,ok.
The wiring comes from close to the lead coil/engine fuse box area. Part of the front harness where one wire is Black and the other is Brown.

I see this stubby two wire connector up in that area you mentioned, but it's about 18" too short to reach, with one green and the other looks like black/white. I wonder if there is another wire that connects from the switch to this connector in this picture that I am missing.

Actually, the two wires are found underneath the battery box. The Brown wire runs to pin 1H of the ECU while the other wire is a ground.

Thanks man, that was it, under the battery tray.

I never would have found it. It was all jammed up in there and actually poking out in front of the battery tray. I just saw it now after pulling the battery out.

Reconnected that fan switch on the radiator and checked the fuse but the main fan is still not coming on. I also tested the switch with a voltmeter and it has connectivity when the coolant temp goes up.

Does anyone have the turbo FC wiring diagram handy?

AllData is showing me the wiring diagram for the non-turbo which doesn't look anywhere near like what my turbo has so it's no help. On another screen it shows me there is a fan control unit behind the glove box and a relay up front, but not sure how to test them without the correct wiring diagram.

Which fan are you talking about? The electric one in front of the condenser/radiator? The switch pictured in the 1st post is not a fan switch. It is used to tell the engine to start the car w/the 3k warm up or not depending on the temp of the radiator as sensed by the switch.

Oh, I had it backwards. And thanks for the link. Now that I see the correct diagram with the positions of everything it makes more sense.

I thought the thermoswitch was for the ECU and the switch in the radiator was for the fan.

I also didn't realize there are actually mutliple fan relays so I'm guessing it's one of those two giving me grief.

If you have the factory electric fan (small one at that) it only comes on if the engine temp reaches a certain level or the air con is turned on. The temp sensor for that is at the thermostat housing (has a Green/Black wire). You also have two fuses for that fan (fan and meter fuses). There are two wires to the electric fan. Yellow/Black for ground and Yellow for voltage from the cooling fan fuse so that would be a wire to check initially if the fan is not working when it should.

There 2 relays (sub relay and the non sub relay). To check the non-sub relay you would first check that the B/Y wire has voltage w/key to on. If it does then you ground G/R wire and that should force the fan to turn on given that the fan fuse is powering the fan itself.
