Radiator Recommendation

I am about to acquire a 1987 RX-7 Sports NA.

Hoping to find out about best price/performance radiator recommendations?

I currently am looking at a Koyo Radiator - how good/bad are they? Is there a superior radiator available with better price/performance?

Disclaimer: I am new here, and I've spent the past hour or so trying to wrangle the search function into something usable, but have had little luck unfortunately . If I've missed an obvious post somewhere, I apologize for the useless post.

Koyo's are top quality from what I know, I use one in my car.

As far as the search feature, try searching in thread titles only. It usually leads better results for me.

Thank you for the advice on thread titles, I have found a good bit of information that I would not have otherwise.

Koyo: Top quality? Really? I was looking at a $250 OEM rad from Atkin's, but found a Koyo for $312 shipped - new. Any caveat emptor that I need to be aware of?

I bought a Griffen Radiator. Special ordered it from the company so it could have the same length and width as our stock radiators with the same side inlet outlets. It was the double pass style too. Only cost me in the upper 200, I think to be more exact 278 with shipping. If you need anymore info let me know. IMO they are well obviously cheaper than the koyo and better.

I'd be interested in more information here if possible. Is it http://www.griffinrad.com/ ?

Yeah, that's there web site. Measure your radiator width and length as previously statied and tell them you want inlet outlet on the same side. They will tell you what they have. When I ordered it, it wasn't listed on there web site. Ask them for a part number. Call Summit and order it through them. Griffen actually quoted me a higher price but wen I called summit racing, they didn't have it in stock but ordered it for me for almost 75 dollars cheaper. Give it a try. Let me know how it works.

What is the advantages of a dual pass vs. a single pass radiator? https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/koyo-radiator-540198/ notes that I can use a 89-91 radiator in the '87, and I am looking at a couple raditors for the '89-'91 model year that are dual pass, whereas I can only find single pass w/the '87 model year.

Corksport has just come out with a Rad for the FC.They also make a shroud for it.I personally run a KOYO rad,and I put a temp sender in the Top Rad hose(hose adapter with a 1/8 npt bung). The temps Run at 84 Degrees Celcius. That is once the Thermostat opens.I figured that I would only want to "see" temp on the engine, once the Thermostat opens...anyways a bit of info for ya.

Corksport is not a good choice if you want to retain the stock shroud and intake though.

And there's also the case of the dual costs of shipping+tax on the Corksport.

/wrists @ living in WA, the same state as Corksport

It'll end up running me more than a Koyo or a Griffin due to that 1-2 punch .

The way it was explained to me is the double pass rad passes it, duh twice through the radiator to cool it before it goes out the bottom hose. Yeah thats the web site for summit but give them a call if your gonna do what I told you. I know for a fact some of my v8 friends that are pushing more than 600 whrp run the griffen rad. If it can cool beast like them it can cool us rotarys folk\.
