ON Radiator Cap - Different Sizes

I have a first gen 1984 RX7 with 12A motor.

Bought a rad from Rockauto a while back and just installed it. It has oil cooler lines on the bottom of the rad, which I won`t use because I have a beehive oil cooler.

Obviously the rad is from another year, maybe even another model, but it fits perfectly and is still useable....except for one thing...the radiator cap outlet is much smaller, my previous cap won`t fit, it is too big.

Does anyone know what the size of the smaller cap is and where one might be readily available

Thanks

I called Rockauto and they matched up a cap for the rad I bought from them by calling the manufacturer of the rad. They don't carry the samll cap, but i got a part number.

I believe the earlier years rads had the smaller cap and the rads are interchangeable.Maybe your rad had already been replaced with an earlier year one?

Try calling Rockauto and ordering a cap from them. Any cap listed for the car should do because apparently they don't carry the smaller caps. Or...itmight just be easier to try local parts stores, I think the large cap is more common.

Cheers
