R1 versus other models

I was wondering is there a specific # or letter that identifies a R1 from the base model?
Hope the ? is not to dumb just dont know the answer.

r1s have stiffer suspention, spoiler and lower lip..im not 100% on that so dont quote me but i think thats the difference

I think he means in the VIN# not the car itself I think.

No, there is nothing special about the VIN. Tracing the VIN through a Mazda dealer could possibly reveal if it was truly an R1 or R2

Thanks to everyone for some of the answer.So if am understanding it right the only way to be 100% sure the car is a R1 is to verify thru a Mazda Dealership? How do they go about verifying it?

Run the vin number through carfax....don't pay for it. Just to see if there are records. It should tell you the model of car. Mine came up as an R1 model.

Just put the vin in the box.
