Is this black stuff something that used to be in there, like a rubber boot or something? Or is it just carbon build up that needs to be scraped off? These are the port actuator rods off of my '85 GSL-SE. Looks like it's crumbling off already. Want to make sure before buttoning everything up. Thanks in advanced.
